The Wise Path

We are called to walk in a worthy manner with the Father in Christ by the Spirit. The metric of walking in a worthy manner is Loving God and Loving Others (Matthew 22:37-40). The model for walking in a worthy manner is letting the peace of Christ rule your heart (emotions), the Word of Christ rule your mind (thoughts), letting the Name of Christ rule your words (speech), and deeds (actions).

We had looked at the examples of Moses (humility), Paul (contentment), David (thankfulness), and Noah (godliness) in previous weeks, but today we looked at Christ as the perfect example of right thinking, feeling, speaking, and doing. The wise path is pursuing Christ's example in how he loved his Father. To become like Christ, we must abide with him, and abiding is found through prayer and Bible engagement. Today, I laid out a formula for doing just that:

1) Pray (Ask God to reveal something to you through the Bible today, something to believe, do, or stop doing)

2) Listen (Listen to the Bible until the Holy Spirit reveals a specific verse to you)

3) Read (Open the Bible and read the specific passage that verse is found in. Get context)

4) Study (To make sure you understand what it means, go do a little research: gotquestions.org, preceptaustin.org, text Norm or Kim)

5) Meditate (Spend some time thinking about it, what it means, what its application would look like)

6) Memorize (Take a little time to commit that one verse to memory)

7) Pray (Thank God for revealing this truth to you and commit to obeying it)
