Be Strong and Courageous

The book of Joshua invites us into a powerful spiritual reality that extends far beyond ancient history. We discover that Joshua, whose name means 'God saves' and is the Hebrew equivalent of Jesus, leads us not merely to a geographical promised land, but to a present-day spiritual rest available to believers right now. This rest is not heaven in the distant future, but a Sabbath peace we can experience in our current lives as we follow Christ. However, this message comes with a sobering truth: reaching this rest requires spiritual warfare. Just as the Israelites had to battle giants and enemies to possess the land God had already given them, we must wage war against our own flesh, cutting away anything that does not reflect Christ. The sword we wield is not against other people, but against the sinful patterns within ourselves. The promises of God are ours, already given, not something we must earn, but we must actively take hold of them through obedience and courage. The call echoes across the centuries: be strong and courageous, not because we possess inherent strength, but because God is with us. When we meditate on His Word and obey His commands, even when the path is unclear and the cost is high, we position ourselves to experience the abundant life Christ offers. This is not a message of ease, but of empowered living through divine presence.
