The Holy One Who Embraced the Unholy

Mar 1, 2026

This week in The Gospel Paradox, we saw another surprising truth about Jesus: the Holy One does not retreat from the unholy — He moves toward them. From touching the leper in Mark 1, to speaking life to the Samaritan woman in John 4, to calling Zacchaeus down from the tree in Luke 19, Jesus demonstrates that His holiness is not fragile but powerful. He does not become contaminated by sin; He overcomes it. Compassion is not moral confusion, and grace is not approval — it is redemptive love. The same Savior who confronted self-righteous pride now embraces broken sinners, reminding us that the gospel is not about cleaning ourselves up first, but about coming to the One who makes us clean.
