The Merciful One Who Confronts Sin

Mar 8, 2026    Norm Duncan

In this week’s Gospel Paradox message, we explored how Jesus holds together two truths our culture often separates: mercy and holiness. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus moves toward broken sinners with compassion—offering forgiveness and restoration—but He never ignores sin or lowers God’s standard of holiness. From the repentant woman who washed His feet with her tears, to the healed man told to “sin no more,” to the woman caught in adultery who heard both “Neither do I condemn you” and “Go and sin no more,” we see the heart of the gospel. Jesus offers real mercy that forgives our past, but that same grace calls us into a transformed life of holiness.
