God Is with You...Always
Reading: Joshua 1:1-9; Hebrews 13:5-6
Devotional: "I will never leave you nor forsake you." This isn't just a promise to Joshua or ancient Israel, it's God's word to you today. Whatever giant you're facing, whatever uncertain path lies ahead, God is with you. The Holy Spirit dwells fully within you; you don't need more of God, you need less of yourself to make room for His fullness. When you face your next challenge, remember you have the all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present God fighting on your behalf. You cannot lose a battle that God fights for you. This truth transforms fear into courage, anxiety into peace, and hesitation into bold obedience.
Reflection: How would your current situation look different if you truly believed God was with you in it?
Day 3: The Battle for Christlikeness
Reading: Romans 7:14-25; Galatians 5:16-26
Devotional:
The Israelites had to wage war to enter their promised rest. Similarly, the Christian life requires battle—not against other people, but against your own flesh. Becoming like Jesus is war. The sword of God's Word doesn't fight others; it cuts away everything in us that doesn't reflect Christ. This battle isn't easy, and no one should tell you otherwise. You must decide: are you ready to war against everything in you that demands its own way? The rest God promises—the Sabbath peace described in Hebrews 4—comes after victory over the flesh. But take courage: Christ has already won, and His Spirit empowers you to conquer.
Reflection: What specific area of your flesh is God calling you to battle today?
Day 4: Meditate to Activate
Reading: Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3
Devotional:
"This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night." Meditation isn't passive reading; it's active murmuring, constant rehearsal of God's truth. When Scripture stays on your lips—"I am with you," "Be strong and courageous," "I will never leave you"—your way becomes prosperous and you find good success. This isn't about material prosperity but spiritual fruitfulness and divine alignment. You cannot obey commands you don't know. You cannot be emboldened by promises you don't remember. Make God's Word your constant companion, your mental soundtrack, your spiritual nourishment. Then obedience flows naturally, and courage becomes your default setting.
Reflection: What one verse will you meditate on throughout today, speaking it under your breath?
Day 5: Step Forward Despite Uncertainty
Reading: Deuteronomy 31:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:6-7
Devotional:
You're standing at your Jordan River. You know what God is calling you to do, but you can't see how it will work out. The Israelites couldn't see the outcome; they only knew God's command to move forward. Being strong and courageous means willingness to step forward when the path is unclear, to trust God's presence over your circumstances, to obey regardless of cost. Age doesn't disqualify you—Joshua was 80-85 when he finally led. Uncertainty doesn't disqualify you—God specializes in unclear paths. Your next right thing may cost you something, but you were bought with the precious blood of Christ. So take the step. Cross your Jordan. God goes before you.
Reflection: What is your "next right thing," and what's keeping you from doing it today?
