The Presence That Goes Before You

Reading: Exodus 33:12-17; Joshua 3:7-13

Devotional: The Ark of the Covenant led Israel into unknown territory, representing God's presence going before them. You face unknowns too, a new job, a difficult conversation, an uncertain future, a medical diagnosis. But here's the comfort: God's omnipresence means He is already there. You don't need to invite Him to show up; He's waiting for you to arrive.

Reflection: The Israelites kept their eyes fixed on the ark, not on the swollen river. Where are your eyes focused today? On your circumstances or on God's presence? When you know God has called you somewhere and promised to be with you, what's holding you back? Stop staring at the obstacles and fix your gaze on the One who goes before you, beside you, and dwells within you.
