Living Off of Your Own Experience with God

Reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-12; Psalm 78:1-8

Devotional: Only Joshua and Caleb had crossed the Red Sea; everyone else had only heard the stories. Now this new generation experienced their own miracle at the Jordan. God doesn't want you living off your parents' faith or your grandmother's experiences. He wants you to know Him personally. You have something the Israelites didn't, the complete Word of God. Read it and see how He acted, then trust He'll act the same way today.

Reflection: Stop relying on secondhand faith. Get into God's Word yourself. Build your own prayer endurance, start with 1 minute, then grow it to 15 minutes. Join a small group where people ask hard questions about your spiritual life. Apply what God shows you. Your faith must be your own. What's the last thing God told you to start or stop? That's where your obedience begins.
