Concentration before Demonstration
Reading: Joshua 3:5; James 4:4-10
Devotional: "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you." Notice the order: consecration precedes demonstration. God doesn't overlook our sin just because we're excited about our faith. Holiness means being set apart, different from the world's values and pleasures. The Israelites weren't just preparing for worship; they were preparing for war. Everything, your work, your family time, your recreation, can be worship when your heart is consecrated.
Reflection: Are you expecting God to move powerfully while clinging to worldly desires? You cannot hold the world with one hand and reach for God with the other. What do you need to release today? Wash your spiritual clothes. Abstain from what distracts you. Set yourself apart. Then watch God work wonders.
