Spiritual Preparation Precedes Possession

Apr 28, 2026

Reading: Exodus 19:10-15; James 4:7-10

Devotional: Before crossing the Jordan, the Israelites were given three days, not just to pack belongings, but to purify themselves spiritually. Throughout Scripture, three days represents a period of consecration, of getting hearts right before encountering God's power. We often want God's blessings without spiritual preparation. We desire breakthrough while harboring compromise. But covenant living requires cleansed hands and pure hearts. What household gods, i.e. comfort, control, reputation, pleasure, are preventing your total surrender? God is preparing something significant for His people, but the question isn't when He'll move; it's whether we'll be spiritually ready when He does.

Reflection: Examine your life honestly. What needs to be removed? What sin needs confessing? What relationship needs reconciling? Use today to draw near to God through confession and repentance, trusting that as you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you.
