The Weight of Sin
Reading: Romans 6:23; Genesis 2:15-17
Devotional: Sin is not merely a mistake or weakness; it is an act of defiant rebellion against our Creator. When Adam and Eve chose the one forbidden fruit, they declared independence from God's authority. That single bite shattered perfection and introduced death into creation. Today, we still minimize our sin, comparing ourselves to others or justifying our choices. But God sees sin as cosmic treason against His holiness. The wages we've earned is death, spiritual separation from the source of all life. Before we can appreciate grace, we must acknowledge the gravity of our condition. Take time today to see your sin not as you've excused it, but as God sees it, rebellion that cost everything to reconcile. Confession begins with honesty about what our sin truly is.
Reflection Question: How does understanding sin as an act of defiant rebellion against God, rather than simply a mistake or weakness, change the way you view your own sins?
