Living Under the Umbrella of Protection

Jun 10, 2026

Reading: Psalm 91; Proverbs 3:5-8

Devotional: God's commands aren't restrictions; they're protection. Like an umbrella shields us from rain, obedience shields us from unnecessary consequences. When we step outside God's boundaries, we expose ourselves to the world's storms, then wonder why we're soaked. The psalmist declares, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty" (Psalm 91:1). This doesn't mean Christians never face hardship, but willful disobedience removes us from God's protective covering. If you don't steal, you won't face theft charges. If you honor your marriage, you protect your family. Living under God's umbrella means trusting His wisdom over our desires.

Reflection: Where have you stepped outside His protection? Return to the shelter of obedience, where consequences are minimized and blessing is maximized.
