Obedience in the Silence
Reading: Joshua 6:6-14; Psalm 46:10
Devotional: For six days, Israel marched in silence around Jericho. No talking. No complaining. No visible change. Silence is difficult, especially when fear is loud. We fill our lives with noise: podcasts, social media, constant distraction, because silence forces us to confront what's happening inside. Yet God often uses silence to teach us dependency. The Israelites couldn't control the outcome; they could only obey the instruction. Your faithfulness matters even when nothing appears to be changing. God may be doing deep work in you while you wait for circumstances to shift. Don't mistake God's silence for His absence. Sometimes the most powerful act of faith is simply showing up again, trusting again, obeying again.
Reflection: What noise do you need to silence today to hear God more clearly?
