The Gospel Reversal: One Man's Obedience

Reading: Romans 5:12-21; 1 Corinthians 15:20-22

Devotional: Joshua 7 shows how one man's sin brought death to many. But the gospel reverses this pattern: one Man's obedience brought life to all. Where Achan's disobedience caused defeat, Jesus' obedience secured victory. Where Achan died for his own sin, Jesus died for ours. Paul writes, "As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22). This is the beautiful mystery of substitution: the sinless One taking our place. Achan's story reminds us of sin's seriousness, but Jesus' story offers hope beyond our failures. We cannot minimize sin, but we can magnify grace.

Reflection: Today, let the weight of Achan's judgment drive you to appreciate Christ's sacrifice. Your sin is serious, but His love is greater. Rest in the One whose obedience covers your disobedience.
